First off...I have too many hobbies, I mean I do military vehicle restoration, reenacting, and I hunt and document cold war era sirens....which brings me to this thread...
Here in the states from WWII up till now warning sirens, are one of those little overlooked items that dots the nations cities and towns, from the local volunteer fire department to the long silenced civil defense stations....it also seems to be overlooked in the model railroad area, as every club and layout I have seen lacks this little icon of times past ( at least where I live...the sirens made their last test in the 80's)
So anyway here I am thinking, if I made both static and animated sirens in HO scale, would anyone buy them?
Would love to know the community's feedback here...thanks!
just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

Hello, rgcw5. I too am ready to file for a patent for a new product.(not model train related) You should get a patent on your item(s) if you deceided to produce them. That way, the "rights" to the item remain yours.. Without the patent, anyone can patent your idea leaving you with nothing towards the product..

a small square box with a diesel horn coming out of it.
I'd seen an article Somewhere about the sirens, usually mounted on a water tower.
The town I grew up in has a siren that blows at 12noon and any time when more off-duty firefighters are needed to get to the station and send out more trucks. It used to be the defense warning siren.

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
