Certainly not a Factory set, but....

The idea here is to have a Hobbytown heavyweight monster pulling to modded Hi-F units that have been adapted to be what I call "PUP-E;s" Pick-ups Electical mules, to pass current to the HT head unit... Likely will eventually be a HT F7/Athearn F7B/F7B/HT F7 the end ones being powered the middle two "PUP-E's"

Earlier this week Ken brought my attention to a boxed Lima set on ebay. I had no idea it was worth anything...I didn't even know it was originally sold as a set Nonetheless, I seem to have all the pieces

Here is the last of the three major Canadian railroads featured in this weeks SotW

Nice VIA set, DaCheez.

The (GMD)SDP40F... the trucks look metal, while the body seems plastic. LIMA
Is the locomotive a LIMA, too?

Three roads... Well, BC Rail used to be a major road. Locomotives never left BC.
CN takes over BC Rail... now BC Rail locomotives are seen in most parts of Canada, down through Chicago, and even to the Gulf Of Mexico! And in clean-dress, as if they'd just been freshly painted! Check www.railchicago.com daily, new pic's and notable places to eat.

oh... got off track.

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.
"I love your catenary!"
Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Hey John. Yup, the whole set is Lima (cars AND engine). Everything is plastic. The engine isn't much of a puller, but it is a neat looking set

When I said major railroads I meant the ones seen coast-to-coast. I'm not trying to insult your British Columbia roots or anything I have yet to see a BC Rail loco in real life

No insult taken.

My roots are actually C.STP.M&O, that's Chicago Saint Paul Minneapolis & Omaha...
The town I grew up in Wisconsin, Rice Lake, had a Soo Line spur besides the (then) modern day Chicago & North Western.

The reference to BC Rail sightings I refer to is this: You are more likely to see a BC Rail locomotive outside of British Columbia. Seems that CN wanted to rid themselves of such road colours and personalized names (besides Crash National circa 2005/2006 with 12 major derailments within six months since swallowing BC Rail, though not all on BC Rail tracks).

I had a LIMA Santa Fe red/silver colours, same locomotive type... pulled okay for a while until the little rubber tire came off on the single powered truck, and only two axles were for traction besides that.

Perhaps the shell has room for more weight? Or, perhaps an Athearn chassis can replace the LIMA one?
I did a chassis swap with a TYCO 1776/1976 Century shell onto an Athearn U-30-C Chassis... I think I mentioned this in this forum a few years ago... talk about a mega-powered TYCO!
Anyway, check if you can do a bit of a transplant, or should I say "TRAINSPLANT!"

(clearing throat...) John

I picked this set up today at a LHS that is closing. It has a Special Edition Amtrak Phase V AMD103. Not bad for $90 OTD.
