Not that the majority of us guys often dress up often, right? But occasionally there are times to use items on our clothes, and yesterday at the flea market, I found several pieces I bought, more for show than go. Anyway, tie-clasps, cuff links, hat pins or shirt pins, show us what you have. I'll post what I found yesterday at the junk jewelry dealer I visit on occasion. Here we go!

Above - a C.P. Huntington 4-2-4 engine replica. I had no idea a 4-2-4 even existed until I did some googling last night after getting home with this tie clasp pin. I actually found two of these clasps, and bought both.

Above - a pretty standard 4-4-0 steamer tie clasp.

Above - a nice Trolley, missing one stone, but flashy.

Above - a train on a roller coaster? Although Microbusss says Disney has something like this, maybe it's a brooch replica. Anyone seen another one like it?

Above - cute articulated alligator ( a 2-2-0 ? ) and deer. I'm thinking of using the alligator, hook up his tail to a tortoise or something via wire, and set up a HO scene with an escaped alligator from a zoo transporter truck, on a busy street. The deer, not sure yet, but scale enough to repaint and use as well. Something fun to think about doing.

Anyway, this is my contribution, join in if you have any interesting pieces of man-flash to show off.

After 35+ years in the hobby, I've managed not to own; train jewelry, engineer's cap and overalls, train badges, buttons or stickers.

I see these old railroaders at the quarterly swap meets, decked out in a vest on which every railroad logo patch covers both front panels of the vest. They often have a sort of serious look in their eyes, as if they are somehow "official". I know I am but only 15 years or so behind them on the time curve, but i just cannot see dressing like that. I can, however, see wearing a nice polo shirt with a railroad logo embroidered over the left front- BNSF has an accessories store online that sells this stuff and other merchandise. That is not any different from wearing a company shirt- more understated and subtle, but with the same message, that I am a railroad fan.

But wearing a logo-laden vest and/ or an engineer's cap...as much as I love railroading, I just don't think so!
