Probably the same attitude that's around here. When I buy Tycos at shows, the dealers act confused. Last year I bought 4 triple dome tankers and 5 advertising boxcars and hoppers from a dealer for $1 each. I probably could have talked him down from that, even. He acted like he didn't know what to do with them because nobody wanted them.
Of course the flipside to that is that when I walk into an antique store, they have the same thing for about $25 a piece.
It's funny how things fluctuate. I bought a Bachmann DD40AX in the box for $15 a couple years ago. They acted like they couldn't wait to get rid of it. Last year from one dealer I bought a sealed in box AHM RS-2, sealed AHM C-Liner, Atlas SD40, and Bachmann U36B for $5 a piece. I've pulled perfectly good, near mint Athearn PA-1s out of junk boxes for a couple bucks apiece. I bought an Athearn GP38-2 that runs like a champ for 3 bucks. Then I walk into the local antique store and see a beat up Tyco Santa Fe F7 with a price tag of $50. One store had common Tyco locos marked in the hundreds. It's quite a game to play, shopping around for these things.

Hi Redneck Justin,
That is one great score! Congrats. I have just the engine with a different road number.
Thanks for sharing.

Thats how its goes. Them antique stores get trains and automatically think they are worth $100! Saw a redbox era F-Unit going for $50 once. The truck frames were missing and the stripes were faded.

Very nice find for 5 bucks! A local train shop seems like they are embarrassed with having Tyco stuff in their store. Freight cars for 1.00,I bought my boxed, almost mint President Seal C430 there for 5.00. And a B&O passenger car set for 3.00. That's it people, keep hatin' Tyco, for the Tyco enthusiasts are lovin it!

ah I see Maybe I should have you find me some Tycos I'm missing Funny thing is I get my Tyco cars for on average for $3-$5 UNLESS it the DC comic boxcars Now I did see some old Red Box there going for more than $5 One guy was telling me that when I bought some Tycos at the train show in Denver for $3 He was amazed how quickly they were disappearing I think they were guys who had or couldn't afford them when they were new Ok the exception to the $3-$5 rule was the $10 CN Rapido observation Red Box I got Yes Tyco made cheap locos & stuff BUT to us it's good quality & there is NOTHING toy-like about Tycos Do see the Tyco locos go for more here About $10 or more sometimes less
