I'm thinning out and re-focusing my collection, the first wave ends tonight. I have these 2 life-like cars I started out low and I'm wondering why they are selling for as high as they are at this point? It's not a fortune but it is surprising so far. Does someone know something I don't?

They are not very common cars. I have never seen the SCL/L&N Family Lines cab sold seperatly...Its always been in sets or a Loco/caboose combo. As for the boxcar I dont recall ever seeing it before.

As Alex said they are a bit uncommon. The orange 50' Mech Reefer I believe is early '70s Life-Like and wasn't around in their line for very many years.
That New England style Caboose in SCL/L&N is also limited to release in combo packs with LL's GP-38-2 in the '70s and '80s and again not a common example like the endless number of ATSF and Chessie GP-38-2 variations offered by LL at the time.
