Hey, any of you guys ever use Mold-a-scene? Looks like it might be easier to work with than the Hydra-cal stuff. More doughy. Anyway, here's my predicament - I bought a Z scale portable layout, but on the front half of the oval, the guy had like a 10% grade that drops down, then goes back up. Yikes! I guess the train will run on it ok, did for 10 years, anyway. But I'm going to level it up some, I hope. Just trying to figure out what to add on to the already-in-place plaster earth/scenery. The track has been "leveled" some by putting silicone underneath the track it's about 1/8 inch off the cork roadbed in places. REAL proto-typical! Now, I'm not a rivet counter, but even I can't stand looking at THIS rough scenery attempt! So I"m going to pull up the track on the front half of the oval, then the cork roadbed, THEN- what should I put on top of the plaster type material already there? Do I need stakes or wire mesh to hold it to it? Suggestions welcome here! I need to raise the "ground" up about 1 and a 1/2 inches in the front to the rear. So it'll have to be thick in the front area, the build-up material. Thanks for comments in advance,
Jerry Casper

I haven't used mold-a-scene....never even heard of it actually, but I've never had a problem putting fresh plaster over dry plaster.
