This is a CANADIAN LOCOMOTIVE CO LTD engine. This one is stationed at the SIEMENS WESTINGHOUSE plant on south Charlotte ,NC. THis is one of the locomotives used to push /pull the flatcars loaded with turbines and other power plant equipment into and out of plant that are to be re-built or re-built and shipped back to customer. I got lucky today when i went to deliver a load of concrete and it was out and running. It is stored inside when not being used as evident by condition

ROMCAT and DACHEEZE - Enjoy

Circles? You mean the counterweights on the drive rods?

I think what MB is talking about are the round circles on the pilots.
They are called poling pockets, they were used to switch cars on tracks next to the track the loco was on by inserting a pole in the pocket of the loco, and the pocket on the freight car on the adjacent track.
Pretty common in the old days, but against railroad rules today.

Hey Chooch,

Hadn't thought of that. Actually NASA uses a couple of SW's linked with a bar, to move some enormous stuff. I'm betting they have a waiver!?

As to the polling and age yeah, the CLC dates way back into the Steam era. Think Baldwin Canada and you'll have the idea.

I love side rod switchers. Brian, you mean to tell me you didn't take it with you? It looks small enough to snitch.
