Being the last show in the area until December, I got up and went today, although the budget was low. I spent some $$$ on AMC Hornet parts in Richmond the previous day. But they don't show up in the yards much anymore! Anyhow, got to the show, and spent about 40 minutes at a 2nd-row vendor going thru old train magazines. One I found, Mainline Trains, is an excellent magazine, never saw it on the shelves, but for rivet-counters, it looks wonderful I found several issues with things I wanted, BL-2 B&M and BAR, the NYC Jet-powered RDC, and some auto parts boxcars. After my back got sore enough bending over looking at mags, I bought some, then moved on. FOund several green BN engines, a Tyco E7, and a Cox F3 ?. Next found a Plasticville automobile garage, bought that. A few aisles over, found an N gauge tri-level car for $5, scarfed that up quick! I have about 10 N gauge tri's now. A few more aisles over, found an HO NYC bi-level by Athearn, vintage, with 4 autos, I think all Chryslers of the '50's. I've seen THESE sell for $40 or more on Ebay. Marked $15. I left it, but came back for it after I ran the aisles and didn't find anything else I wanted. Got that, decent shape, except one fin on a chrysler was broken off. That was pretty much the extent of my rolling stock purchases, I bought 3 engines, the two auto racks, 8 magazines, oh and some diecast vehicles, too. Even found a vintage Hotwheels AMX, paid $17 for that, nice aqua color. Ran across my train club friend, was there with his custom trees, he had a box of them for me as a thank-you gift for some hardware I'd given him. I wanted the tall evergreen trees, the kind that line an estate driveway. So he made some up for me. Show going on Sunday as well, not sure if the weather from Hurricane Irene will affect attendance, didn't today, had plenty of vendors, train clubs running, etc. I'm out of my budget for the week, though, so no more for me. But a decent show nontheless.
