Do you really have to ask? The GG-1 was decades ahead of its time, a true marvel and Tyco agreed.
They will ride again one day, just see if they don't, and I'll be first aboard!

Umm... have you forgotten Little Joes, or DD2's, or NYC motors, or BC Rail's GMC6's? Not to mention GN electrics, or all the other host of PRR electrics, or the GM10B?

In any case, the GG1's rule, but the GM10B comes in a close second.

I would have to pick almost any one of the new Haven electrics.

Like this EP-3 just purchased:

or this EP-4:

Shaygetz's Bride's favourite!

Go ahead ask him, cause I've tried several times to get him to trade it to me.

DD1 is the grandfather of all the electrics of Pennsy in my opinion, because while not the first, it was one of the more successful that allowed the terminal in NYC to be built.
GG1's were by far the best regularly used, but my favorite is the DD2. Everything they did right with the GG1, except smaller, more powerful, and potentially faster. Had the Pennsy decided to extend electrification to Pittsburg (then Chicago), the DD2 would have been the favorite as the sequel to the GG1. Sadly, it was not to be, only one was built, and they kept it in freight and oddball duty until scrapping it.

Amtrak couldn't build or buy a better locomotive today than the GG1. THe HHP-8's have been curmby, the AEM-7 toasters are getting old, and don't even bother with the E-44s for passengers. Build new DD2's and we could have the best (if antichronistic) locomotives available.
