Nice catch Ben.
Some of us are trying to avoid extra calories on the layout though.

That's cool Ben. I've never had much interest in color varianced cars cus it seems like there could be so many. I could see where black could be replaced with purple as a fill in color at some point. Since these are toy trains and they didn't have to be perfect to begin with, I figure employees would substitute colors and shades as a common practice. I can't find very much excitment in finding variace Tyco pieces plus since they all bring just a few bucks at a sale.
The was a period where GM and other car makes had paint variances. Go in to buy paint only to find out there's 5 or 6 variance colors that this car might be... Was always fun when you was aorking on a Lincoln to find out it was one of those paint colors... I enjoy the auto painting system and I'm very particular on color matching in this line. I'm even a "rivet counter" when it comes to antique cars... I love those cars where ever nut & bolts is detailed on floor & undercarriage...

Let's not forget Walt that GM owend Fridgedare too & they went pratically crazy with painting fridges, stoves & others with the same paint as the cars & even went as so far as to use 2 tone colors on them!

Actually Ben I didn't remember that cus I've never had much interest in refridgerators
I remember some early 70s refrig's in avacado green, the Harvest gold and a bronze. I don't remember and really cool colors on them though.
Funny thing is , the paints used by automakers today (mianly PPG) is not the same as the PPG paint I buy at the local auto paint supplier. The factory uses a different chemical formula than the shops use.
PPG offers a wide variety of custom colors now that should be used on appliances too! House Of Kolor offers some serious colors too. Nothing like a high dollar street custom in a sick coat of ultra color!! I thank God for giving me the total automotive interest and ability to create wild customs. I absolutely love the auto paint industry of 2011.
