Research is good Ben! I wish more people would do research on not only Tyco & related trains, but everything.
Have you ever been around one of those people that have something to say about every subject but has zero knowledge backing their say..

well Walt I'm cheap & not willing to pay too much for cars I mean she has buildings already put togeather for $10-$40+ no thanks Rather get buildings unassembled for those prices If too many do research it will kill off the used trains prices

Research only educates people Ben and I can't see it hurting any prices that are within reason. I believe the buyer sets the prices on any controlled market and will only pay what they feel the items is worth..
I have watched ebay sellers for 11 years now and som will list an auction at a ridiculous price. Then over the following weeks the price drops and drops until it reaches the normal value that a buyer will pay..
No one wants to spend money like they are in congress...

My new additions are added to COTW, a pair of red Penn Line domed passenger cars. No trucks, will have to find some appropriate types to use ( anyone have a clue what will work? ).

These might look good also in my Silver sausage consist, with the black B unit, it might look more like a woolly catapillar than before! Then again, sausage IS red, usually. Italian Express?

Ken,
I made a small parts lot purchase last week for ~$15 plus ~$4 s/h which included these "Teaspoon of Power" Lindsay Ghost motors!

Now I can finish the incomplete one I have.

Gareth,
This is your photo from a previous post:
You can clearly see the motor has a longer shaft and a worm gear on one end.

When you say everything else..well sort of, but I think you would nearly destroy it trying to convert it. First, you would have to remove the gear too. Not even sure if the shafts are the same length. I think the Stubby motor shaft is longer. The only part i am sure in interchangeable is the rear motor casting, and magnet. The forward casting is different. The stubby is longer because it slides into the O shaped molder on chassis mounting bracket. This one does not have that.
OK on the Athearn...The Yardbird already sold this morning.

You would need a hole in the bottom of the caboose and set up just like this:

Add a bracket to hold the truck:

It's fun! What more do you need! I was not around when this was created and I was born in 1970. This car kit was from the ~50's. I have heard two versions:
to use as a helper with the old under-powered engines which pulled the heavy cars with less quality rolling trucks/wheels
to have fun with that ever popular "runaway car".
You chose, as I was not around then.
