I'm trying to track down an AHM HO train set - probably early 70's but maybe late 60's. It had a 2 RS-2 L&N locos (one was a dummy) and an L&N caboose. I don't recall the rest of it, except that it had the yellow transformer. Any insight would help. Thanks in advance.

The 1972 AHM catalog I have has a set called the Hi-ball Express, with a powered and dummy RS-2, A box car, A gondola, a chemical car, a stock car and caboose. although the L&N isn't listed, #69784 plus the letter for the road name is the cat.#

Whow, what timing. I just recently added the Rivarossi/AHM 1972 catalog for reference information at HOseeker.net. This train set is listed in Brochure 1972 Page 8. http://www.hoseeker.net/otherhotrains.html Wish the scan quality was better, however the pages of this booklet are only 4x5 in size. Larry

I knew it was a Thunder-Line set but didn't know the name. I too have this catalogue but can't seem to lay my hands on it at the present. I had the one pictured above it. It came from Woolco's and had the Seaboard Coast Line FM diesels and orange SCL caboose. I believe it came with a 50' L&N boxcar, a 40' Morrell reefer, a 50' Therm-ice tank car, a 50' UP stock car, and a C&O gondola. The FM diesels were bad about breaking the power pick-up truck as I remember more than once ordering them from the AHM service depot. My FM diesels can be seen on my profile picture although now they have Model Power chassis under them.

Thanks, fella's. This helps me a great deal. I see that they don't list L&N as one of the road names (as already pointed out).

Hello Everyone:
AHM was known for not catalogging all of their sets, the L and N set, I have seen it before, the one I saw was on ebay.
it was a montgomery wards set, regular ahm boxes in a plain cardboad box,
this was about 2 months ago
take care
George
