I recently picked up a Tyco Mantua GP-20 in a parts bin and I have been able to restore the power torque motor to good running condition by drilling out the rivets. However, the rear (dummy) truck seems to have a problem. I apply power to the front truck but the rear wheels appear not to be picking up power. When I touch the power to the frame or the little screw on the rear truck, the engine works, when I touch the rear wheel, nothing. The rear truck is sealed differently from the front truck, can it be drilled out? I suspect there is a connectivity issue between the rear wheels and the truck frame.

The rear truck wheels pick up power the same as the front truck, from the wheel to the axle, then axle to truck frame. I'd put a drop of oil on each axle, between each wheel and the frame, it will eventually flow across the entire axle. This allows power to flow better from the axle to the frame, in addition to lubricating it. I use Labelle 107, I cannot speak for other oils.

Also another tip, the MU-2 motors (what you have here) don't usually need to be disassembled, they can be serviced without drilling the rivets out.

Thanks for the tips, ill try the oil and see what happens. I have cleaned other MU2 s by soaking it in jewelry cleaner, they will run under water. That works pretty good. this one was a total mess so i had to open it up.

Thanks.
