Is anybody gonna be in or near Phoenix next week? My wife has a work conference and I get to tag along, assuming the government shutdown doesn’t prevent our airline flight from happening. It would be cool to meet some other forum members in person if possible.

Well Ben, given the current circumstances, Amtrak might be faster!

I did manage to visit the Arizona Railway Museum in Chandler, Arizona and take a few pictures in spite of being sick and feeling miserable.
Here is a side dump car built by the Western Wheeled Scraper Company in 1929 for the Ray Consolidated Copper Company in Arizona:

This is one of the Southern Pacific’s famous sugar beet cars:
Cars like this transported sugar beets to the Spreckels plant in Chandler, Arizona.
I also got pictures of a couple of crane cars.
This one was built in 1943 by the American Hoist and Derrick Co. of St. Paul, Minnesota. The cab is similar to Tyco’s.

This one was built in 1910 by Industrial Works of Bay City, Michigan. It has a really beefy look to it:
 I love these mechanicals:

…and one of the Santa Fe’s iconic cabooses:

We also were given a private tour of a privately owned Pullman, by the owner. We didn’t take any pictures of the interior because it seemed rude to do so, and I was barely holding myself together physically anyway.
