Smelter Town was a section of El Paso adjacent the former Asarco Copper Refinery. This 2 x 4 foot layout is loosely based on downtown El Paso circa 1955. San Jancinto Park in downtown El Paso used to have live alligators. This one is about to eat the young lady with her back turned. The Ferris Wheel works.

Many happy hours and many train shows Smelter Town performed. Named after a section of El Paso known by that name, in the shadow of the Asarco Copper Smelter. There was a move to reopen the plant, but a small but determined ecologically minded group helped discourage its resurgence. So Asarco knocked it down and moved the plant to Bolivia, where there are no ecological laws, and they can dump and smoke to their hearts' content.
