edison train show
Saturday, December 30, 2017
For what ever reason frank (not me another) the manager of these Greenberg train shows booked this weekend. I know for a fact that I will be wrapping up early to get home to celebrate the new year. I don't have a flyer so I need to post this from memory or info from a old flyer.
The show is at the Edison convention center in Raritan Center off of Woodbridge Ave. You use exit 10 of the new Jersey turnpike to get there. Upon passing through the toll booth just say to the right. The first exit on the right is for Raritan center. Just follow the signs. When you enter the center keep going straight. Your turn is next to the last right turn on the road. There will be a train show sign on this corner. Opens at 10:00 AM on Saturday. Closes at 5:00 on Saturday, and 4:00 on Sunday. so much for dirrections. If you do come when you make the turn, on that corner is a parking lot which is used for train show. Parking if the lot behind the convention center, which is 4 times as large, is full, cars will be parked on both sides of the street which is open for parking and most likely will be full of cars also. This means there are a heck of a lot of people there. frank

Frank, The Garden State Expo Center in Somerset was sold, so they moved the show back to Edison.

I went for the last time today.... The bigger venue was in use for CV19 shots. They used the smaller side. The quality of the dealers were horrible. A LOT of junk. Any decent HO was over priced, even with the junk HO the dealers thought they had "treasures". I found some needed trucks for my HO MoW project. This show I won't miss.... $11 for a crappy show with the higher tolls and gas costs they won't see me there again.....

Hi pete Must of missed you. I was there early and left as the first group of people who waited for the opening were let in a little early. I foound an old dealer I knew of as pop's . Another old guy like myself with just Vintaage trains to sell. He had the 4 PRR streamlined passenger cars to the HObbyline set Trail Blazer. He like myself loves to talk and I found out about Pop's next repair projects. I remember when Nelson was in our group and I would meet him also at the Jersey shows and POP's was one of his favorite stops. Well Pop's made me an offer I could not say no to and I now have a second complete set of PRR silver streanliners in my collection. I didn't get alot and was dissapointed that this first large train show in new jersey in over a year didn't have more Vintage HO trains. Trains from this show. Frank
Aquired the 4 passenger cars and Aristocraft 0-8-0 switcher and a Varney C&O box car, in its original box.

Pete Allentown is always a great show. I know I'll be going there on Sat Nov13. The Lehigh Keystone Model Railroad club in Bethlehem Pa has been having good shows at their club site. Their next one is 9-19-21. Their club is at 705 Linden St Bethlehem, not that far from Easton. It is the Sunday after the Hamberg train show on 9-12-21. frank

Nice purchase Frank. I almost went on Sunday but I just did not feel like traveling. Warmer than I expected and the virus still out there. Maybe a future show before the end of the year. Stay safe.

Nice looking British railway, though a little roundey-roundey to hold my attention for too long. Thomas is a bit of cliche, not a big fan.

Show this weekend. August 6 and 7.
https://www.trainshow.com/shows/edison-08-22
I work Saturday but I can get to the Sunday show. Assuming that the heat does not drop me. Of course anyone nearby has first crack on Saturday. Edison New Jersey is near Newark and Trenton.

My photos from yesterday at the Edison show.

The expo center is over four miles from the Metuchen New Jersey train station.

One of the few crowd pics of model railfans I took.

Tyco passenger set that my parents bought back in 1973.

Long gone but I have bought replacements.

Lionel train set my grandmother bought back in 1966.

Long gone but I have bought most of the replacements.

Tyco set shows a model of the iconic engine of a fun television show from the 1960s.

Not often seen is the Bachmann Auto Train engine.

N scale passenger set.

Colorful tin plate models.

I believe these were O scale reproductions of the original ones. By then I was so tired of walking it was hard to concentrate on the show. I forgot to photograph more items at the show. And I had a long way back to the train station. After days earlier a fun but tiring trip in Lancaster. I need plenty of rest this week in between my job.

My photos from the Metuchen New Jersey train station to the Expo Center in Edison New Jersey.

NJ Transit train I was on leaves Metuchen New Jersey.

Seconds later an Amtrak train appears.

Quiet in the station as I leave for my long walk to the show.

Short distance away is a former branch line now a biker trail.

Industrial complex about an hour into my walk.

Half an hour later I reach the center with the show inside.
