It looks like one of those paintings they put on Christmas cards, but you can tell it's a photo. Everything is so perfect that even the smoke and steam are where they should be to enhance the composition best.
A few years ago, the Nevada Northern's winter photo special also included a day on the Heber Valley RR in Heber City, Utah. That place looks like the Heber Valley in the flats upstream of Provo Canyon and the locomotive looks like their Harriman consolidation. They also have a nice collection of freight cars that could be used in a shot like this.
Kudos to: 1) The people who organized the event, 2) The person who managed to keep that car so clean and shiny in the winter, 3) The person who figured out that location 4) The photographer who composed the shot so capably, 5) Ken for sharing this picture with us.

It's even got a train set consist! 4 or 5 cars and a caboose, and all the cars different types! If I squint just right I can see a Chattanooga Choo Choo, a silver tanker, a Burlington Route operating boxcar, a Blue Coal hopper, a Western Maryland culvert flat (someone lost the pipes ), and a Union Pacific caboose!
Great photo Ken, thanks for posting it!

What train set? didn't anybody notice that '53 Buick Roadmaster? I'd like to have one of those, too!

This showed up as my Windows welcome screen a few years ago.

Man, I want to ride that line some time!!!
Is this that Swiss narrow gauge train? If so I actually had HOe cars from a junk box until I gave them away to the local ETE (European Train Enthusiasts) Club
