A different looking old brass 0-6-0T. Well it seems it is a 2-6-2t or 2-6-4T made in Japan using a old style vertical shaft motor. It is one I cant identfy or find other photos of. It hay have been made for a Asian train market. They do look japaneese in style with smoke deflectors adding even more odd detail. It also needs side rods, and main rods with pistons, along with front and rear pilot with couplers.
Hopw someone can help

Such an interesting old piece. As Japan crawled out from the ashes, this is quite a piece of history. Hey Jeff! I am leaning towards it being a 2-6-4 tanker. Proably used pulling a consist of passenger cars from stop to stop in Japan. Still there is no real information on it that I've found yet. You inside and it seems to be a New One japan product, but has no brand anywhere. Yep another Ho mistery! frank

Cute engine Frank. I do not have the expertise to help but perhaps the staff at The Train Store in Piscataway can get you the parts. I am guessing that it is a Marklin item.

My Tyco Chattanooga engine.
weeks this is standard 2 rail DC, Manklin would be 3 rail. nice Tyco!

I wonder if it could be Lambert Imports?
Randy those old vertical shaft motors were used in the 1950's. I do recall stumbling into a used brass site and seeing lots of good info there.

I had a Lambert Imports 0-4-0t that had a motor that looked like the one you pictured. I gave the loco away so can't post a picture of the motor.

I'm only a month and a half late, but I think I know what this is.
This is almost certainly a model of a Japan National Railways Class C11 2-6-4t, it's missing the leading and trailing trucks. I found a couple examples that look identical to this, made by Kawai models. I don't know who would have imported it to the US though.

Possibly imported as an individual piece by an armed services personnel who picked it up a souvenir.
