Had a question about the Rivarossi 4-4-2. It's the Southern Pacific freight model. Do they rot badly to where it can't run? I won't run mine very much or at all but I'm curious.

Zinc rot is terminal, and will only continue. The best you can do is put it in an atmosphere with low humidity and paint the exposed metal if possible.

Bake-O-lite plastic doesn't rust or corrode. It just gets brittle and breaks easily. I have 2. A firsts run with handrails on the car roof and a latter one without those handrails. Any cast metal parts are fine. frank
old original one

second one I have no original tender for it . I use a lionel pacific tender.
