Hello everyone. Does anyone know what gauge the wire on the side of the #315 tanks cars is? What type (stainless and black)? Where can I get straight replacement wire? I just bought .24 gauge @ Home Depot (Too big) on the spool and can't straighten it out. I'm tired of buying junkers on E-Bay for $5.00+? Thanks.

Try .020" dia. music wire. Brass wire will also work, but is more easily bent. I can get either at my LHS, but someone here mentioned that craft stores carry music wire too, IIRC.

Hi Pacific Surfliner. In the Old Days it was called Piano Wire. But, it is now referred to as Music Wire..

K & S Enginering mades the best selection of items for your many needs. From Sheet metal to Brass tubes and sheets of brass and Music Wire.. Most Hobby stores and Craft stores usually have it.. I have also seen displays of their items at True Value and Ace Hardware. Here is a link to their Page of Items.. Carl

Is "music wire" the politically correct term, so as not to offend all of the other instruments?
