I have some as well, use it? Well, one day I HOPE when I have space. That quite a few RR crossing slot car tracks you have! Wow. Love that AMC Matador Taxi, btw...I have some AMC slot cars, from Gremlins to AMX to Javelin to the Matador sedan ( taxi ) and Coupe ( race cars ). Nice pics! Selling or just touching base with us other slotters?

Thanks Bob!.... Jerry, Actualy I am thinking of going on a slot car buying spree... I have collected a ton of the old track with good connecting tabs. It's just a habit now for me to by the old style white painted track. But I really need to start on getting more slot cars. I favor the AFX cars....

They're expensive if you collect the older ones....then again, in this eco-downturn, you may get some good deals on people liquidating collections. I bought many of the Johnny Lightning ThurnderJet 500 pull-back cars some years ago for the retro bodies, and I have quite a few. I personally collect AMC slot cars actively, but I have most of them now, so don't search as hard for them. Good luck with your collection! - jerry -

The better chassis's today are G-plus, and they snap onto the old AF/X bodies. I intend to upgrade a few AMCs to give me some real power, with bottom magnets, they really hold the track! - Jerry -
P.S. - I think you have a small fortune in railroad crossing slot track, those things sell for ridiculous prices on Ebay.

Hey Jerry! I remember having some of the G Plus cars in the later 70s. As a boy I had some T Jets, Tyco & AfX cars. Seems like there was Cigar Box cars early on...but can't remember if they were slot cars or not. This time I will stick to the AFX cars . I have followed prices on all the brands slot cars over the recent years on Ebay...
I once bid $52.07 on a Road & Rail Crossing in its blister package. Thankfully, I was suprised to be outbid!!! What was I thinking??
It was quite a job to round up all of the Road & Rail Crossings and Intersections! I started buying the unpainted "later version" track then decieded I wanted to use the early Tyco S series track with added detail.. I believe I have one more NOS road Rail crossing that is not in the photo. These crossings were a blast as a kid, but we sure tore up a lot of cars and trains with them. I have managed to get 14 nice pieces of the "bridge track" and I have curves of all radius.
AMC cars? I remember how happy my mother was in late 1968 driving her new 1969 Rambler home from Gil Galyan AMC dealership. It was Beal Street Blue....

The Cigar box cars were by Aurora, they ventured out (briefly, it seems ) into the diecast car market, but apparently didn't last long. They had special chrome paint that collectors love today. I just bought some in February when I found an antique shop with a case full of old toys, I got a Lionel milk car for $9, some N gauge hustler engines, and about 10 diecasts, one of which was a pinkish Aurora Cigar box car, I forgot which model I bought now.
Gotta love those old Ramblers, they were cheap but usually reliable. I have 9 Gremlins currently, and a "few" other AMCs ( about 7 more ). :)

Yes, I remember the Cigar Box cars being in chrome or kandy colors maybe. As a kid I never liked the "chrome look" on cars or trains like Golden Eagle or Silver Streak. I guess I knew that I had never seen a chrome car as a kid, now as a 30+ year auto restorer / body man, I know why I've never seen one!
The old Rambler (American) $2,200 out the door.. Mom kept it, when she passed in late 1991, dad sold it. I remember Mom laughing as it was the only car in the neighborhood that would start on a real cold winter day!
I love to see old Ramblers, wagons, and low dollar cars at a car show. My favorites are mid 55 56 57 Chevy Convertibles & Thunderbirds, and the big block Chevy powered cars of the late 60s to 72.

Yes Lexlie, I knew those kits are pricey!! Nice G plus cars too! My layout doesn't call for Indy car bodies and I know they snap off. But I have no loose bodies to use on them... I only have about ten slot cars so far. These are the rescue & Police vans (which handle horrible) and the Police & Fire cars with lights (that are slowed by the blinking lights robbing power). Ive got a silver & black Corvette by Tyco and a few others.
About 12 years ago, my young nephew gave me a newer Tyco slot cars set that included two extra Indy cars. I kept the cars & sold the remaining set for pennies on ebay... I kept the cars because he wanted me to have them...
