Greg, I'm checking for you, a club member of mine has several totes FULL of junkers, alot of Tyco, but he's down in Mississippi right now, be back in a week or so. I'll go visit him one Wednesday night when the wife is off doing her thing, and see what he has. I never found any reference to the PT motor, do you have any ( pics, literature, website references ) where I could print off a picture of the PT ? I got one for the MU-2, but my friend says there are different ones of those, so if you need them specifically for the Durango, a photo of it would help (me) alot. Any idea of what you're willing to pay for runners or junkers? I'll try to test them to see if they work first. I've been thru his stuff before, he's got a collection of parts worth looking thru. I'll be looking for some stuff myself. Anyway, message me direct with info if you can provide any pics of the motor units you're looking for, and DESCRIPTIONS of the model they came out of. All details help. All for now, Jerry

have you tried to take them apart & clean everything up? most of the time oil gets on the brush springs & they get burned & shrink. all i do is clean the piss out of the cummutor, brushes, springs, & brush plate. if the springs are real short (from getting hot) i just stretch them out until their about 1/4" inch long. put it back together & dip a toothpick or small wire into oil & get one (1) drop on the back & another small drop on the front under the pinion gear. i had about 6 that didn't run & i did this & it fixed them all. some were just dirty & some had the springs collapse (from burning oil).

i was bad about over oiling them.

Wednesday May 19, a successful rendezvous with fellow club member Brion to rummage and pillage as much Tyco gold as I could find in his junk bins. I came away with about 8 or 9 engines and chassis's, some complete, some parts, and a Folgers coffee can full of PT and MU-2 motors, among others I acquired. So I will go thru and see what I want to keep, and THEN see what I will offer to Greg and others needing parts.

I picked up a Revell UP engine, a Lionel Santa Fe GP, among the non-Tyco motor queens. Most of the rest were Mantua or Tyco engines, a few F7's, and some Geeps. Pretty decent night, and kept it under 3 figures. :) He had quite a few MU-2 motors, the pre-Power Torque units, some complete, some missing brushes and such. Price was right, so I got as many as were in decent shape. I may have as many as 25? loose engines, not sure, didn't count them, just kept adding them to the pile. My friend tested every one that was complete, and they all ran, some noisily, others very smooth. Obviously the parts motors were just that, although he even applied power to the copper on those without brushes, and I think all of them moved and spun freely. So I have some parts for those looking for them, and will post this week sometime when time and photography allow. Hope to try out some of those early 50 and 60's Mantua engines, and maybe post some vids on those, too. No Bachmann or Lifelike tonight, maybe an Athearn did slip into my take-home box. I'll sort thru it Thursday, it's late now, time for some shut-eye. But the pantry has been raided, a nice haul was made, and I'll share the wealth later with those needing parts, once payment terms are arranged. All for tonight guys!
