Here's something I learned so you don't get hit with those ridiculous PayPal fees outside eBay. (With eBay this does not work - you enter the auction #.)

Click on the "Personal" tab when you send money. Make sure "Gift" is selected with the radio box.

None of your mailing details will be sent to the recipient, so you'll have to make sure you've sent any notes, addresses, etc. in a PM and/or e-mail, but the recipient will not get charged ANYTHING. You send a guy $6.25 for a small Priority box, PayPal is taking 8%, not 3%. This helps avoid that.

Now if we could just avoid that 12% eBay final value fee, plus another 8% on everything including postage that they charge from PayPal - that means eBay (which owns PayPal) gets 20% - it would make life easier!

Thanks for the tip, Rus. I'll have to give that a shot.

I'd rather we start our own buy and sell "garage sale" type of section on here and NYC gets a percentage for each sale to run the site.

Do you need to put up a donations button so we can help out? I have to say - this is an AMAZING site and it's rare I don't have PMs in my inbox every single day. I check here before I check my e-mail sometimes - is that bad?

There is a free train auction site - it is part of HOSEEKER.NET. The only problem right now is low traffic. But if you are looking for a free auction site, this is it.
