Cute small operation in Elizabethtown Pennsylvania. About a mile long at this time.
Not my videos. Look forward to its expansion in the near future.

I went to the museum on Saturday but the train was not running.

Still nice to see. My friend drove me there so I had limited time. Will go there soon when the train runs.

Starts around 2 pm and ends around 7 pm.

Does not run often so try to take advantage of the trip if you are nearby.

Astonishing to sea a working old timer!

Here in El Paso, this beautiful old locomotive worked the copper mines for the El Paso and South Western for a number of decades. Prior to that, she started life hauling timber in Minnesota. The engine was built in 1857 by Breese, Kneeland, and Company of Jersey City, New Jersey, and is the only locomotive built by that firm still in existence.
You may note the silver smoke box is a bit elongated for this machine. It was added on in later years to increase her steaming capacity, and extends about six feet beyond the original smoke box front end.
Only cosmetically restored, she bears a crown sheet that was made by Russian serfs pounding it out cold, using sledge hammers. What a life of toil that must have been.

Exciting News!!! Stone Gables Estate is doubling the size of our train experience with a 2025 expansion project on the HL&L Railroad. The improvement project includes the addition of trestles, track, switch, and platforms. Our ambition is to be complete and open for train rides for the Fall of 2025. Due to this improvement project the train will not be in operation at our Easter or 4th of July Events this year. Please be sure to look for updates on the completion and upcoming train events on our social media and at StoneGablesEstate. Hopefully they will be running in the Fall season.
