I have often though that being a motorman on those lines could not
be such a hard way to make a living. The views are beautiful. The
trains are enormous, by US standards, at least.

The coaches look clean and inviting.

After leaving the park I hike back to the station in Stirling.













Near Stirling.



After arriving in Stirling I take a westbound NJ Transit train to the end of the line at Gladstone New Jersey.







Gladstone station depot looks similar to the Tyco passenger station issued in the 1970s.



Former freight station.





Last stop on this branch line.





Gladstone church looks similar to the Tyco church issued in the 1970s.





NJ Transit train heads to the yard just east of the station.

I feed some geese at a nearby park before taking the train back to New York City.

Very different views of NJ than I would expect. Not familiar with much of the state, but did travel through there a number of occasions without ever getting much of a sense of the place. Typical media references are that NJ is overly taxed and generally upside down, financially, but this does not look like a place that is struggling.

Trains seem to rule. It would appear that a concerted effort is made to preserve existing historical structures, railroad and not, as well as well maintained track and rolling stock that appear quite clean and modern.

Pennsauken New Jersey station on the Atlantic City line.
