I've been working on this recently. I'm cloning a Queensland Rail Alco. Currently trying to make the decals and had a problem with them after they had been printed.
I hope this is of interest. I used an MU2 Alco shell instead of a PT.

You did a Canadiana Alco a while back right? Some nice looking clones for sure. Keep us posted on how this turns out.

Looks like you are right on with matching the colors. Mix them yourself?

Wow, very good imitation. Wouldn't know better from the pic if you didn't mention it.

Here's some progress on the QR clone, reproduction. I'm having computer issues and couldn't use it to draw the QR so I sketched it out on decal paper and hand painted it with Testors red enamel. I did manage to find a similar font to the cab numbers, though it isn't right, and printed them on decal paper.

If you hadn't said it was a repro, I don't think I would've been able to tell the difference. Nice!

Sorry it's such a bad pic. I'll post a better one later. I'm waiting to paint the handrails, (white or cab color?) and I have to repair one of the tank lugs that broke while trying to install the tank.

Impressive work, especially the blue color. You say that was done with off the shelf spray paint? I kept thinking that blue was one of the strangest shades I'd ever seen. Not quite baby blue, not quite turquoise, not quite gray-blue... definitely unique.

TL, I think it's called Valspar Exotic Sea. After I sprayed it I thought I had found a better choice and was going to respray it but decided not to. I might do another one. Thanks for your comments :)

Thanks Brian and Microbusss.
I'm waiting for the handrails to dry and may get them on tonight. I saw this photo while surfing some images under the topic Tyco trains. I'm guessing this is a Australian prototype and maybe it was a model for Tyco's Qeensland Rail Alco paint scheme, patterened after the actual prototype. Any help please?

Catfordken sent me some really neat pics of the Australian prototype. The blue on them is much darker.

AF, here's a link to a CotW where I posted a pic of my QR caboose. Scroll down a bit and you'll see it. The loco looks great. Tom

I wasn't happy with the pics, so I thought I'd practice a bit. I thought these looked neat together.

Tip: In the future for the yellow stripe it is much easier to use the Yellow stripes decals made by Microscale. Also is less time consuming.
