I was looking on ebay today and saw a real nice B&O 0-6-0 switcher number 31031. Price is right, but, the main gear is gone! I look at RFG Co's website and I find it, but have no idea if its the right oneAny ideas?

Unless you know a parts source, axle gears aren't easy to come by, and $45 is high for a loco with that kind of damage. I watched and waited, and finally won a 31004 0-6-0 a few years ago in near mint condition for about $26 without shipping, so personally I would wait for another one to come along.
My AF Hudson has been in pieces for some time because I'm still waiting to locate an axle gear for it. Also, a driver has to be removed and the axle has to be driven out through the frame and gear, because these don't have a removable axle cover. It's not an easy job.

* Now this B&O Gilbert is the easy one to get. the other I think is 31019 is from a unlisted set and harder to find. A ruff one reflect a lot of use. and should be less. * North West Short is a source for the gear. You will have to pull the old gear off and press a new one on, and requater the wheels but the cost will be bearable. frank

Justin, I've searched that site before, and did so again... where are you finding the 0-6-0 axle gear? All I can find for HO is a gear axle for $4.50, which is the axle knurled for the gear, but not the gear itself.
