. This is a Roundhouse sand and gravel hopper. This relatively rare car came in kit form, though I found mine already built at a train show. It includes a painted weight disguised as sand pile. I've never seen that before. Then again, I've never seen a car like this in real life. Even photos of the real ones seem nonexistent. Which brings up the question of who ran these? Given that Roundhouse was a California based company, I suspect Southern Pacific had these cars, or maybe some area short line.
