Last week I made a trip to FOstoria, OH, a town that boasts three double track lines crossing each other in an area known as the Iron Triangle. WHile these lines are CSX and NS now, I will refer to them ny their previous owners. The three lines are the B&O from the east coast to CHicago, the C&O from TOledo to COlumbus, and the Nickle Plate from Bellevue to Fort Wayne. Here are some of the photos from the trip.

This is the former "F" tower. where the C&O crosses the B&O. The C&O is in front of the tower, the C&O is in back. Three of the four connectors between the B&O and C&O are in this photo. The Northwest connector runs along the fence, The northeast connector can be seen in the far left curving towards the B&O, and the southeast connector is in the trees behind the tower. The fourth connector is out of the photo to the right.

This is the Town Street crossing where the C&O crosses the Nickle Plate. Here we are looking east on the Nickle Plate.

Looking west on the Nickle Plate toward the third crossing where the B&O and Nickle Plate cross. The B&O line is just behind the buildings in the background. We didn't get to this crossing until after dark, because it is out of sight from the other two and by hanging out there we'd have missed whatever came down the C&O.

B&O caboose at the rail park, set up as a refreshment stand. Since we were there on a Monday, it wasn't open.

Ballast sweeper doing its thing on the C&O.

Westbound on the nickle Plate about to cross the C&O.

Heading east on the B&O.

Northbound train on the C&O with UP and KCS locomotives.

Intermodal train with BNSF power takes the Northwest connector from the B&O to the C&O.

Southbound freight off the C&O taking the northeast connector to the B&O. Note the green dwarf signal in front of the locomotive.

Westbound intermodal with CP power passes by the end of the CSX train on the northeast connector.

CSX train with NS and BNSF power takes the snorthwest connector to the B&O. Note the kids chasing the train around the park.

All in all this is a place I want to return to next summer.
