THird solution. Since you have to replace the crossing anyway, make sure the one you get is a DC one that's got insulated frogs. THey shouldn't be too hard to find at a hobby shop. And they would eliminate the electrical issues you now have.

It seems like it might work but I have to question whether you are just chasing ever more expensive and cumbersome solutions to what should be a simple problem. I mean, an Atlas crossing would solve all your problems at less than half the cost.'
