Was going to run her last night, but ended up replacing the stiff, old traction tires with Calumets. I put RP onto Goody's hairbands, and he in turn put me onto Calumet traction tires, which are far superior. Then, had to ream out the rear bogie so the axles would turn freely, as the zinc rot is causing swelling that cleaves upon the axles. Performs better now, and greased the PT motor gears (knock on wood).

How difficult are these Australian Tycos to find? I really like the Victorian Railways one.

They are rare and expensive to find in North America. Occasionally they pop up at a show or ebay. As always, they are priced according to the seller's knowledge or greed.

JWard, it took about three years of combing various auction sites before one finally turned up. I lucked out as this one had a caboose. I found it on eBay AU. It was at auction, and so throwing caution to the winds I put a max bid of $200 on it, and won it for about $45.
I don't really know, in hindsight, how far I was willing to take this, but if it took $200 I would have done it. Sometime when the Tyco Madness strikes, it strikes hard. Rarely, do I shell out more than $25 for any given locomotive. Most I paid for a Tyco car was about a $100 for the Bubble Yum box car with semi. Strangely, the semi didn't really have the grip on me as did the rail car, and was able to conduct a most interesting trade for some vintage match boxes for it with RP.
I've seen the VR Century turn up occasionally. I don't even know if they have one in the F unit.
It is most curious as to how Tyco tried to break into the model train market in such an off the grid location. To this, I have absolutely no clue whatsoever.

There is one on ebay now, but it's missing the nose herald.

This is bit a Tyco, and quite a bit closer to the real Australian units, but it's painted the same as the Tyco F7
