Is a motorized coach a locomotive?

(Many thanks to WKS who gifted me a coach and inspired me to do this microlayout.
Interesting factoid about WKS: he doesn't own a car, drive a car, or need a car. He
gets everywhere by rail and by bus. Myself, I'd love that, though it makes it hard
to get a sheet of plywood!!)

I can't do what WKS does, even if I lived on the east coast. Most of the places I go don't have bus service, and my train hopping days were over a long time ago.

Got this today. Not a scratch on it. Box has seen some shelf life, but the loco appears un-played with.

I now know why it doesn’t look played with. The large gear broke its mounting post and the smaller gear under it was stripped.

I’m trying a repair. Anyone got a 3 axle SD24 motor block they don’t need?

Whether they have two axles or three, PT blocks are all the same.

There’s something different about these blocks that I can’t put my finger on.

Excellent!

If you figure out what’s different about that PT, please clue me in on it. I know some use one screw to hold on the bottom cover and others use three, but I can’t imagine that affecting the axle count.

I don’t have any locos with a spring on top of the block. So the block cradle wasn’t something I was used to

PT stands for "Plenty 'o Trouble." RP gets them to work, but I throw them
away whenever I come across them.

hmmmm...I wish my Rocky Mountain Line '24s were easily accessible; I'd take a look to see what you're referring to. I've had them apart before, but can't remember anything unusual about them.
