A set of 4 Hornby OO-Guage LNER "teak" passenger coaches - the perfect compliment to my Mallard.

Love the British set! Were the real coaches actually made of wood, or is the paint just teak coloured?

Here's an early 60's Lionel HO set I've been working on periodically. The engine, which is Lionel's own rubber-band drive (not the borrowed Athearn drive), was rebuilt a year or two ago. The drive uses fragile plastic clips to hold the wormshaft in each truck, which all need to be removed to change the drive belts. I broke two of them and ended up 3D printing some replicas. The next challenge was that there was only one good coupler in the entire set. Lionel used somewhat unique couplers, so I ended up 3D printing those as well.

Here's the set:

A coupler printed in resin. Interestingly, the engine uses a slightly different coupler than the rest of the cars.

And finally a video of the train in action. It doesn't start or stop realistically, but once rolling it's quite smooth.

I'm not sure, but all of the prototype photos I found on the internet of British teak-type passenger coaches, look like they're metal.

That Lionel set runs super well.

A favorite Hornby locomotive is the A4 streamlined pacific. The one I like the best is the Silver Fox.
