The Ephrata Valley Railroad now has a GG1 in its roster - check out #4800, the number pays tribute to "Old Rivets" of the PRR.

The shell was custom detailed by Aaron Anderson earlier this year, and then sat around waiting for the right parts-donor Tyco GG1 to get it riding the rails. After a lot of waiting for the "right loco at the right price," I found a good deal on a junked Tyco GG1 with a PowerTorque truck assembly that surprisingly had low miles on it or was restored - clean contact wheels and fairly new traction tires - and swapped the trucks into EVRR #4800. Obviously, the Tyco GG1 is not very prototypical....so who knows, if I find a junk Rivarossi or Varney GG1...

Has anybody ever tried putting two power torques under this beast? If so, how did it perform?

What my dream is, and it would take a ton of parts to do this, is to try and mount to vampire trucks in the fuel tank mounts, and then try to find two pilot trucks for up front.

Yessiree, sure did. Before she anemically hauled two coaches barely. After putting two PT's
under her she was transformed:

BTW, never see a custom G, and that looks amazing.

In the video, it's pulling 4 cars (twice two), but I was wondering if it could pull even more. I would think that two powered trucks would have more than double the pulling power of one, because of the weight not wasted on idler wheels.

I believe I've had her up to 7, will see if I can find the vid. The wipers on
those lighted Tyco and LL coaches creates a lot of drag.

I'm interested in doing something similar with the C630s. I'd like to find a way to eliminate the traction tires and have all 12 wheels pickup electricity as well. My experience with the C430s I had as a kid were that they were decent performers though not up to the standards of Athearn. They were by far the best running Alco Centuries available back around 1980.
And as for the Tyco GG1, it's a funky, wildly inaccurate model of the real thing but somehow they fascinate me.

Agreed, the Tyco G's are odd ducks, but capture the essence of the beast in a few bold strokes. Finally, got
time to open this today, and what a surprise! Who knew the PC had it's long reach all the way out to AC
territory? From Anderson Lines Paint Shops:

Here we have the old and rarely viewed Marx Western Pacific heavy hauler 0-4-0t. A brute of a locomotive able to jump over the tallest building, lift the heaviest loads, and fly faster than a bullet. If I am not wrong, I think I have goofed and gave a superman description for my Marx 0-4-0t. Really my Marx loco can't jump at all. Also, it pulls loads and doesn't lift them. I really dont think it is that fast BUT I like it.
This is an old scurfy picture from the day I got it. Kind of an old family train portrait which doesn't go it justice.
OH YES, MY WISH. MERRY CHRISTMASS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT.

I gotta say, these pocket rockets always have a certain charm to them.
