So late in the spring heavy rains washed a culvert out from under an ALSX freight train. ALXS #5628 was leading 5 boxcars when it hit the washout and derailed onto its side. Luckily the crew was unharmed.
The engine was too badly damaged to return to service.
Thus we wrote it off, and used the insurance to be purchase a near new Alco C430. Introducing the somwhat complete ALSX #4301.
There's plenty left to be done on this C430, and it will likely take a few weeks to obtain parts.
