The first HO-Scale steam locomotive to run on the Ephrata Valley Railroad.....in a very...very...long time. Check out Bachmann Reading RR 2-8-0 "Consolidation" #2000, hauling mixed freight. It once suffered from the common split-plastic-center-axle issue that affected other classic Bachmann steamers, but was repaired, thanks to insight from Alex (BlaxlandRidge3). I still have some various track issues that need to be ironed out , that effect steam locomotives more than diesels (obviously), but I look forward to adding more classic HO steamers to the collection.

LOL, that opening scene caught me off guard. An attractive piece, nice to
see some steam on the EVRR.

I read that Bachmann has "much improved" their mechanical issues, a plastic center drive wheel? Holy Plastic Drivers, Batman!

Pleasant background accompaniment.

Thanks, Chops. Yes, turns out in older Bachmann steam locomotives, the centers of each axle were made of plastic, and since such locomotives had contact pick-up drive wheels, rather than tender pick up, stress on these drive wheels was all the more possible, especially when someone uninformed (aka me) tried to push the locomotive forward with a little force. All of the plastic center's had hairline cracks down each one, causing the locomotive to not run. Thanks to Alex's insight, I put a dab of plastic cement in the cracks and then brushed it around the center plastic piece of each axle, allowed to dry, and presto.

Ouchies. Bachmann has, and had, some very nice injection molding.
I don't want to slam them out of spite, because I have heard, and simply
heard, that they have upgraded their notorious drive mechanisms
substantially. Which is good, for if they had gone down that road
they would eventually be bankrupt for wont of a better mech.
The complexities of designing a piece in one place, then having it
built in Communist China must be a real double edge sword, leaving
quality control to the Four Winds.

Agreed. Bachmann has made some top-notch stuff, in my opinion, and I'm a big fan of their vintage diesels as well as the detail in their model trains. Their early steam locos, are apparently another story, but yes, they did upgrade from those horrible plastic axle centers which cracked often, when they started up the Spectrum line. But, at least the issue is easily repairable.
