My BOTW will be my new Tyco Water Tower. When I eventually get a layout built, this is a scene I plan to recreate. I just love the look of the big steamer pulling up to the water tower, especially with the small country station nearby.

Nice stuff guys! Chops you're always good for posting things we'll never see in the magazines. I promised my version of the Plasticville motel last week so her it is. I had a similar set up on my layout as a kid but used the Atlas Roadside In with the orange roof to brand it a Howard Johnson's
Now it's the Flamingo!

I agree! its like those old motels you'd find in the 1950s to 1970s where'd you get the flamingos from?

Thanks guys. The big flamingo had chopsticks for legs. Knew when I saw it was going to be my sign. The little ones are little Chinese lucky toys. Got these at a zoo but got others at an art store.

I've lost track of it in all the reroutings and bypasses, but I used to pass a motel in Iowa on U.S. 30 that had a giant flamingo like that out in front. There's a prototype for everything.

Beautiful job on the motel scene! The giant flamingo really ties it all together. I saw pictures a few years back of a model motel (I think it was the Plasticville kit) that someone had done up with an attached mini golf course. I've been meaning to try something similar, maybe have a little swan boat ride circling the property. So much potential!

The sign board under big bird is actually copied from the real sign. Next step one day is to light everything. Hopefully with some neon.

Sorry I haven't replied back but work has been chaotic. Dacheez The units under the windows are the ac units. Some came with the kit and I made the others. Gary when I was looking for references photos your excellent builld kept showing up. The out of service tracks were a run around track I relayed 3 times with the same results. Kinks and derailments.
