I don't know exactly what to call this, but I need a new bottom plate that goes on the rear of the last truck on Tyco's 2-8-0 "Consolidation." The little thing that holds the coupler in place broke off when the coupler got jammed up, and I can't replace the coupler without replacing this entire screw-on plate.

I can try, with liquid cement, and it might work. However, as it is such a small element, and is responsible for holding the coupler in place, I fear that it might just break off again, especially when replacing the coupler (if it breaks or gets dislodged.)
I was hoping the entire plate could be easily replaced, as I feel that many have parts for or project Tyco 2-8-0's, or at least that's what I've seen on Ebay. So, I figured I'd ask on here first.

| You most likely can replace it, but try gluing it first. I would slide the coupler in first, the glue the tab.

If you have a metal thumb tack you can trim it with a pair of snips, then glue it sticking up throught the spot where that pin should be with the coupler. It may sound a little crude, but it gets the job done.

Good idea....but I already tried gluing it, and unfortunately my liquid cement dripped too far and also glued the coupler. Oh well, I'll find a parts tender (I'm sure) for a Tyco 2-8-0 and will get another one of these intact.

I started using toothpicks for glue and it greatly reduces screw-ups.

Can you show me a picture of the truck cover as it is now. If it's the Chattanooga style tender motor. I'd say take out the PT screw, use a small flathead to pry off that truck cover. Use a pair of snips to cut out the glued out coupler. Modeller's cement usually isn't that hard to break apart. At worst you're gonna lose a coupler, but it will be cheaper than replacing the whole thing.

Here's the fast and easy way to fix it. I'm guessing with your consolidation rear truck you just have break the glue on the coupler and remove it from the tab, then follow these steps.
