My LOTW will be my newest locomotive addition, a Tyco Southern Pacific RF-16 sharknose diesel. Cosmetically this is probably one of my nicest units. Operations wise... Uh... It was singin' to a different tune. After a full-servicing, it lit nut didn't want to move. I checked a wheelset and tried again, then much like my SD24 earlier in the week, The motor start running full tilt while the locomotive didn't move. The pinion gear slipped. I managed to set the pinion gear, but it still didn't want to run. So I'm probably going to have to work on the bushings or armature.

Hey guys, hope your all good and being safe. A little project I just completed. The classic Monogram/Revell Big Boy kit. Totally static so I'm calling it 'The Big Dumby!'

Nice locos so far, guys!

Gonna double-dip with 2 recent additions to my Tyco collection.

The 1st being a mint Santa Fe "Mikado" 2-8-2 steam locomotive. It will need an upgraded magnet in order to run strong again.

The 2nd is the hard-to-find Burlington Northern F9A #657!! I've been seeking one of these for a long time, and this one is in great shape, circa "Red Box Era."

them snap-together locos are pretty cool
they'd be good for a static display in a park or museum

Amazing Shark and Mike, RP. Not familiar about either of them. That Revell is a
nifty blast from the past.

I took this Tyco BN shark shell, and had a friend lathe down the metal chassis
on a fly wheeled Model Power Shark unit. I, too, have heard the whine of the
pinion a few two many times. This works better.

That's a great idea for the model power chassis, chops! I'd like a Rock Shark and detail it up like someone else did on the forums, and use the MP chassis. Someday.

My LOTW offering is this Stewart kit.

Iā€™m super excited to be building my first semi-advanced kit. I went ahead and ordered some super-detailing parts for it as well along with the matching ATSF FT-B unit. I canā€™t wait to tear into it this weekend! I find kit building to be truly relaxing. Iā€™m not sure which is better after a stressful day at work-running trains or building them!

I have a Stewart S1, wasn't a kit, though. BUT the smoothest running
thing I have ever encountered. Wish everything ran as good as a
Stewart. Look forward to what you can do with this classic ATSF.

"stressful day at work-running trains:" do you play with the 1:1
versions?

Haha no thatā€™s not what I meant. Sometimes I do have to deal with Norfolk Southern, like request them to move an empty/bring us a full hopper. I believe the hoppers we order come via Canadiana National then somehow make their way down to us. They carry pellets that we use as backing on our automotive carpet. The pellets get melted down applied onto rolls of carpet via these huge extrusion ranges. If I know when a switcher is going to show up I will leave my office and go ā€œoverseeā€ operations.

Hereā€™s NS 9752 and 7619 about to leave our docks with empties.
