Hello, My name is Glenn and I have been in HO railroads for about 60 years.. Started with my Dad and it still going on... MY Wife and I got our daughters into it and now our Grandsons love it! I am still using the units from my Dad and have been collecting from various people.. I just got a Tyco 2-8-0 Chattanooga from a friend... finally got the smoke working again and while running around the track the drive unit stripped out a gear! bummer... I would like to get her running again for the boys so when the quarantine is finally over they can see the smoke..

Hey there! Is almost certain that someone here will have repair knowledge. If you haven't already post that gear question in the motive power topic,

I Glenn! Pleased to meet you! Glad your daughters and grandsons are enjoying the hobby. I'm 14, and it's a pretty rare breed these days.

Hello Glen. Welcome to the TYCO forum. Sorry to hear about your tyco 2-8-0. What happened? Did the little gear separate from the Motor shaft and it now just spins around or did the plastic gears loose a few teeth?
frank.

Thanks for the Welcome.... Yes I am very lucky that my entire family love model trains.... Both daughters are setting up an "N" scale layout, and I am building one for the grandsons under mine... theirs will roll out when they are over..... and my wife LOVES buying stuff for the trains!!!

Well, Frank.. you were right, the small gear popped off! I have her running (and smoking) again... I love working and repairing the engines.... I think I spend more time "fixin" then I do running the layout! haha....
