I had no idea in the 1970s that Tyco had made a red Purina box car. I really like this piece for some reason...

I think the Purina came in about 4 or 5 colors! Plus there is a Purina coal hopper which would go great with the Purina loader

The Tyco Purina come in a few different combos of blue and white. The red is the only different color than blue...😊

Again, another Tyco factoid of which I knew nothing. Tyco really does seem like an alternate universe.

Chops, I see small and large changes from car to car that go unnoticed. I believe Tyco mass produced these cars and things would get changed a little sometimes possible by the person controlling the machines, the paint colors, etc.. I'm not one that is going to take time to try to buy all 15 versions of the Purina box car...Or the other 100 versions that had subtle changes to them... I really liked the red version and bought two of them. I gave one away as a Christmas gift...

15 versions???????????????????? With the NH fifty footer, I have over 30, lost count, found a subtle variation, that repeats, where the orange is slightly faded.

Ooooo, jealous here of that RI Rocket. My teeth are gnashing.
I was asked a few questions about this apparently Tyco fifty footer, so I am reposting with some additional photography. I recall that like five years ago I was searching high and low for this piece and came up short, then won it on eBay for $16, which I was happy to shell out.
So, the maker's mark says Tyco, but the coupler pockets have me confused; never seen a Tyco piece yet with coupler pockets, or did I miss that, too?

I don't know what to say, chops. I've been into Tyco trains for 50 years and have never seen that boxcar before...

The coupler pockets and the silver underframe look like improvements made by a previous owner. If you still have the contact info from the eBay seller, they may know something about the history of this piece.
