Although born in Allentown Pennsylvania I have lived in New York almost all of my 56 years. Parents divorced when I was a small child so I was raised by my mother's parents. My grandmother got me interested in trains and subways at a very young age. Took many subway rides with my grandparents which got me fascinated with subways.
Many decades later here are some of my recent videos.
Superb videos, wks!! Nice subway. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven." - Matthew 5:16
Near a subway line where I grew up from 1969 to 1977 is a magnificent railroad bridge. Hellgate Bridge was built to link Pennsylvania Railroad service with New Haven Railroad service.
Built from 1912 to 1916 with train traffic operating on the bridge in March 1917.
Links Astoria Queens with Randalls Island and the Bronx New York. Not my photos.

I went to public school from 1969 to 1975 and watched rail traffic on that segment from the classroom.
Back then Penn Central freight and passenger service was great to see as was early Amtrak. And still learned in class even with those distractions. I had the seat next to the window.

Ten blocks from that bridge is an elevated subway line I rode many times.
The Astoria line used the RR line symbol. The Ditmars Boulevard Station was the last stop.
I would travel from my parents apartment to my grandparents apartment almost every Friday to Sunday.
Next southbound stop is the Astoria Boulevard Station.
Next stop is the 30 Street Station. Train on the northbound track.
Same train returns on the southbound track.
Next stop is the Broadway Station.
Subway cars stored on the express track at the Broadway Station.
Next stop is the 36 Avenue Station.
Next stop is the 39 Avenue Station. Next stop is the Queensboro Plaza Station. Then Manhattan and Brooklyn stations. Today service is provided by the N line symbol. Not my photos. Fortunate that railfans photographed the line during my youth. Memories.

I used to work for NYC Transit in the Electrical Eng Dept for a while. NYC Transit has a cool museum in Brooklyn. I didn't get any pics when I worked there. I did manage to get two of the large subway station maps. They are 3'x4'. Some of the long time employees gave me some 100th anniversary items.

Electricity is such a peculiar "thing." I conceptually understand that electrons are moved from one conductant from point A to Point B, but beyond that, none of it makes a lick of sense to me.

I went to Staten Island New York on Saturday. Great time revisiting areas I went to decades ago. Will post photos later. In the meantime some internet photos from the 1960s and 1970s.
Internet photo from 1976 at Saint George. Former owner was the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Freight yard is long gone. I was in this area yesterday looking at the Manhattan skyline.
Internet photo from 1972 at Annadale. My first trip on this line was to this station in 1971. To visit my father's coworker who lived nearby. I remember that day still. Was fun with the old equipment.
Internet photo from 1970 at Stapleton. Some nice views of the Verrazano Bridge from here.
Internet photo from 1966 at Great Kills. Equipment shows its Baltimore and Ohio heritage.
These four areas I visited yesterday. Different but still have some similarities
