I decided to start a thread dedicated solely to the F7 diesels we own, that were produced by Mantua in a variety of different liveries, under the "new" line that started in the 1970's. The HO Scale Trains Resource site lists them all here: http://ho-scaletrains.com/mantua-f7/
Below are 2 Mantua F7's recently added to the Locomotive Roster of the Ephrata Valley Railroad --
Reading RR F7A #902
Lehigh Valley RR F7A #574

Going through the F7's the Reading and lehigh Valley road F's dont look like anything painted by Mantua or Tyco. They appear to be custom paint. The Ephrata Valley Railroad has a talented someone doing very fine work there. Reading 902 is as good as can be done and the valley darnet is slightly out of focus and I just know it is a sight to see. The HO-scaletrains F7 site is one to bookmark. frank

Toptrain,
Both the Mantua Reading RR & Lehigh Valley RR F7's are definitely not custom. The HO-Scale Trains Resource website lists 1 Lehigh Valley RR F7 produced by Mantua in 2000 (making it quite scarce,) while there were several variants & numbers of Mantua Reading F7 A & B-units.
Please see the below Mantua catalog information copied from the HO-Scale Trains Resource website:

Two sets of F in this video. The Mantua F, with MU2 motor, had a capacity of maybe four coaches on the flat, while the Athearn F could pull its dummy B and five Tyco coaches up 2% grades without trouble.

Didn’t they make some in the yellowish/orange packaging that had dual MU-2s with screws instead of rivets. Does anyone have one, and if you do, how well does it run?

I've never had a chance to try one of these guys out, but I imagine they're at the very least much easier to maintain than the riveted ones. If those riveted ones are anything to go by, they more than likely run quite nicely as long as they're nicely maintained (which, again, is much easier with the screws instead of the rivets). I don't know, just my best guess based on what I know about Mantua/Tyco diesels.
