Got this Bachmann unit of ebay for $2.64. Reconnected a loose wire and it runs,
rear pick up wheels badly grimed, cleaned them up, but I believe the brass
pick up strip on the interior rear wheels is equally grimed, as it picks up poorly.
The Pancake Motor seems to work well enough. Lightly touched the bearings with
trace of oil. How can I improved the pick-up?

Pull the wheels and bend the strips out some.

If the brass pick up strips are anything like those on the Gilbert HO steam locos, I use ultra fine sandpaper to remove the years of grime. Good luck.
