Should have been a simple remotor of this Athearn dummy switcher. Fitted everything in, but it is electrically dead. What am I doing wrong? The motor is known to work.

Adjust the strips or bypass it with a pair of wires.

I did, Ken, all I did was take out the motor, drive, and wheels from one unit and stuff it into the dummy unit. In its great wisdom, Athearn changed up the chassis slightly from the BB to this version, which did not allow a simple shell swap.

The current flow has to go through the truck kingpins to complete the circuit. If the kingpins aren't polished and free from paint, etc., it can't run.

Also, the bottom of the motor has a couple of bent contacts that need to touch the chassis. The chassis should have a portion stripped of paint so that electricity can flow to the motor.

Yep! to this. That bottom of the motor contacts to the frame is key to getting the motor to run, when everything else has been installed properly. frank
