Hi guys, Anyone have a late prewar Hudson junker laying around with die cast drivers? I am in need of one flanged driver that isn't disintegrated. Willing to buy either just the driver or complete engine to get one. Let me know what you have.
Thanks, Joe

Joe. ** Are you talking about a Gilbert Hudson #112 ( your right) that has #5318 on the cab. They were pre war. Late 1930's. Those were the 6 volt AC Hudson's. frank

Hi Frank, Actually it's the HO112 from 41' with the coupler mounted on the truck, but yes, spur drive, AC powered. They made three different drivers on the HO200 & HO112 Hudson's. The earliest ones were Bakelite, then came Bakelite centers with brass rims, then finally Die-cast Zinc? drivers that suffer from zinc pest where they swell and disintegrate. One of my drivers is crumbling and I'd like to replace it.

No problem, thanks. They're not that easy to find, especially intact... I'll keep hunting.

Patience and perseverance paid off today at Allentown. Today's haul contained this pile which included a diecast driver Gilbert Hudson with every part needed to repair the one i have and build the second one i have. The prewar diecast driver Hudson's are extremely difficult to find and as you can see, zinc pest didn't completely spare this one either.
