About 2 days ago, I received two Tyco patriotic freight car sets. Both of these sets are still in their shrink wrap and have their original price tags. The code number on the box reveals that both sets are from 1975. Are they rare? Here's the pictures I have of the two sets.

The Spirit of 76 set is the common one. It has the fixed cars. These come up for sale all the time. As a matter of a fact I bought one mint like yours for $20 last month.

The state car set is also very common. Tyco made like 10 different state cars. Mint they are $20-$30.
Both are super cool but pretty common. Now if you want to talk rare boxcars... There are some recalled Spirit of 76 boxcars that go for a ton of money when they are found NIB. The whole set sold separately a few weeks ago for around $150.

Okay. I've just never seen one of these, honestly. Probably because I've never actually looked for one of these things at train shows. I do find them rather neat.
