There are 2 known variations on the Tyco Christmas boxcar. The first one - and the most uncommon one is the 1977 Season's Greetings car. This one has a trumpet on it and the word "Season's" is in red and the word "Greetings" is in green. The next and more common one wasn't actually sold as a Tyco I believe. Every time I've seen one boxed it is in the early yellow Mantua box. I believe Mantua was reusing parts they had left over from when they owned the Tyco name. This boxcar has a drum on it and the words "Season's Greetings" are in different colors. Now it appears there is a third version. Take a look at the link and notice the white boxcar in the middle. We can probably place a value on it at around $50 - $60 as the other two cars go for about $20 - $30 a piece. All three just sold as a lot for $112. Any information on this apparent new variant would be much appreciated.
It is supposedly an employee Christmas car from 1977. The car with the drums is a Mantua Car, (MMP 707) is on the car. Mantua was a subcontractor for Tyco in that time period. They produced the promo cars for Tyco in the USA, while the Tyco catalog line was made in China.
The employees car (one with the tree) is worth in the $80 to $100 range. The other two can be found for less than $10.
