For those of you who have never seen a $300 caboose, here you go!! Unless you actually see this up close, there is no way you can really appreciate it beauty. The silver, orange, and black paint is very crisp, and the Western Pacific Herald is an actual decal. I thought it might be the only caboose with an actual decal, but then I remembered my yellow Delaware & Hudson caboose also has a decal. One other thing I noticed about this caboose, the bottom looks very different from the other TYCO cabooses. I'm not sad at all I paid what I did for this.

I was following this auction ever since it started. I still can't believe it went for that much. It is beautiful though. I guess they didn't make very many of these at all. I saw your D and H caboose in the other thread and I forgot to ask a question about it. Isn't that piece a one-off factory sample? Anyways really nice find I bet you were thrilled to have won it. My only gripe is that Tyco never made a Western Pacific Alco 430. :/

The D&H caboose is part of an uncatalogued set that Tyco made for Sears. It is a hard to find, but not rare.

@ Micribusss - Good luck, I'm sure you will not find one.
@ WAW47 - Since 2009 I have only seen two pop-up on eBay, compared to the Durango caboose over the same time I have seen five to seven. There was only one way to get the D&H caboose, that was to buy the SEARS set which was well over $125. And you have to agree, in the early 70's, $125 was a lot to pay for trains set. So you say, "Hard to find but not rare", I say "Rare because I only know a handful of collectors who have one"....

Well, I found two in the last three years. One for $5.00 at the Timonium Scale Show and the other for $8.00 (Buy It Now) on ebay.
