One word to describe today - W-O-W. Sometimes you go and find almost nothing, today was like Tyco fruit hanging from every vendor tree. :) And not overpriced, either!

Some of the goodies I found today , Mantua and Tyco :

- Two Mantua lighted cabooses, and two searchlight cars - one is a rare Reading version, which takes a D cell battery instead of brass pick-up wheels. I found a 5th caboose, a UP, in a box, but didn't have the money then, and forgot about it later. Oh well.

- Walking Brakeman box car, red. Complete except rubber bands and brakeman.

- Hershey's boxcar

- Domino's sugar hopper

- not one, not two, but THREE Virginia #2106 operating hoppers. ( on a side note, I found two of these the day before at a small antique/hobby store, so I got 5 of them in the last 2 days. :D )

I think I bought other Tyco cars, but can't remember right now. I"m a bit dazed and confused by all the booty! People brought out lots of vintage stuff and selling off cheaply, like 2-3 dollars cheap. The Reading searchlight was not one of those, I paid $15 for it, but I think it IS rare? I've never seen one before that I recall. I won't molest it to use the base for another Tyco caboose, as it has the raised truck post that would have to be ground down to use. So it will stay original.

I picked up quite a few billboard cars and other specialty cars that I wanted. I finally broke down and hit the ATM and paid the fee, there was so much left I still wanted. For so cheap, I could not pass up the deals. This was a banner show for me.

Other items of interest - Varney F-7 Complete, $15. quite a few Life-Like and other accessory street lights, lighted signs, etc. Got a Bachmann Trackster van for $3. I then purchased a skew-wound motor that MAY fit it, not sure if NWSL or not. I will see if it will fit, and can make that original Bachmann chassis fly on the tracks. :D I bought a Lionel HO F-7 engine with a HI-F type drive, the trucks would make a perfect project for powering a caboose or boxcar with a motor inside. The trucks have a 90 degree belt wheel, and two worm gears driving the axles. Yeah, powered/haunted car. Uh-huh! Found a Tyco Budweiser hopper for $5 . Buss teaser. :)

I spent more money than I should have, but the deals were too good to pass up on things I wanted. Guess I need to start putting some stuff on Ebay to pay for this addiction. ;) Besides spending money, I ran my Tyco Bi-level auto racks with all AMX cars on them for a few hours, then switched off to my BLI J #613 steam engine after lunchtime, and ran that until closing. THEN spent my last few dollars on a couple of super-nice billboard tankers and cars not 20 feet from the layout for $2 each. Yeesh.

Show still going on Sunday, but I will be working the train shop tomorrow. I need to earn some money. :)
